"Please, don't look at me!"
She turned her head away from Link fast. With narrow eyes she focused on the grass covered ground under her paws.
“Since... you left”, she stammered. Some moments passed until Aik took a breath and continued speaking, the eyes still turned towards the ground, avoiding his sight.
“Since you left many years have passed. Many things have happened. Water we are not concerned about, but food. Take a look around. There is not much prey left after the flood, hunting has become hard and each night the hollow hunger keeps you from sleeping.”
She lifted her head a little and examined him from the corner of her eyes. Her face had turned into a mask with no expression.

The silence seemed to push hard on their minds, even enlarging the distance that had replaced what was once familiar. Link couldn’t think of an answer. Was she asking for a word of comfort? Being close to him? Was he supposed to answer at all or was she just considering her next words? While staring at her eyes the deep and dark rings under them took his attention. Food and a good night’s rest were not the only things she had been missing.

“Yes.”
Her voice had turned into nothing more than a whisper. “I know. The last time you saw me I looked different. I have grown up. I have been signed by the past. I lost my childish look. But with it I also lost my charm and beauty. Yes, take a close look. That’s what’s left of me. A skinny dog with messy fur. Almost no mane and those ugly ears.”
Link could hear her taking a deep breath again. Then she tried to stand upright for some seconds but the exhausted knees began to buckle under her weight. Still she faced him, though.
“This is what time did to me.”

Moments without words.

Link shook his head, stood up and tried his best at flashing a smile. Slowly he walked towards her as if he could undo that pain he was facing if he just could close the small physical space between them.
“I would lie if I told you that I wasn’t shocked when I first saw you again. Yes, you changed, yes, you look like you could need some more food but you are still yourself, nonetheless. Your scent is still the same. I remember it very well.. It was one of the last smells I took with me when I left. I haven’t ever forgotten it since then.”
He nudged his muzzle at her forehead.
“And you know what? I still see your beauty. Appearances may change but as long as you, yourself stays the same, then everything is fine. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. I’m sure you heard that before and you should go for it and keep it in your mind.”
“But...” – “Sshhh, don’t dare to tell me I’m wrong. Now then, raise your head, Aik, and go on. Let’s see if we can find something to eat for you, shall we?”
Aik gnawed her lip a little before she lifted her mouth corners.

“Yes. You’re right.” Her knees had stopped shaking. “Thank you, Link.”
He smiled to her again. “Time also has its positive aspects, Aik.”

Ah blaaah! I’m not a good writer (big THANK YOU is going to ~xenogier for his help :hug:) and this sounds so uber kitschy :XD: Anyway.. I had this sketch in my book for quite some time now and I just felt like doing some Aik x Link picture again. Sorry fan girlies. He still is yours; I just borrowed him, okay? ;)

So yeah, this scene is basically after Link came back – oh really?! I think one of my last Link pictures on the AikDingo account was Link leaving Aik and Coronia. ...wow, that sounds stupid :XD:

And here we go with a double feature! Return of Link, return of the love triangle!

I love it =) Aik is a bit like my cat Tabby in that way.. Tabby used to look bermise-ish but now she looks normal tabby, she lost her kitten looks at adult not teen. I love this pic, gah i should draw Aik XD
